Celebrity guests, film screenings and workshops are in store at the Louisiana Science Fiction Film and Costume Festival Friday-Sunday at the Embassy Suites, 4914 Constitution Ave.
Attendees can dance to “The Time Warp” at Friday’s “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” Extravaganza. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., stylists from The Aveda Institute will help guests with hair and makeup in preparation for the full interactive showing of the cult classic film.
Hands-on workshops on Saturday will cover topics from costuming and prop making, and there will also be an FX makeup contest, filmmaking and live demonstrations. A costume contest and costume promenade also are planned. Attendees are welcome to participate or just take in the view. There will also be a kiddie track with games and workshops for children. Sci fi gamers are also welcome.
Two feature films — “Infected” and “79” — will have their world premiers on Saturday. Bo Linton and Omar Hansen, two stars of the films, will attend and conduct a question-and-answer session after the screenings.
Special celebrity guest will be Jack Stauffer from the original “Battlestar Galactica” TV series. The actor will be available to meet and greet attendees and do a Q-and-A.
Sunday will feature more panels and film screenings.
The festival opens at 6 p.m. Friday and closes at 5 p.m. Sunday. Sci fi fans from Baton Rouge and around the country arfe expected, and vendors will offer a wide range of merchandise from collectibles to costuming accessories.
