Baton Rouge Blues Festival returns to jam in the capital

Blues Best

Six-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dr. John headlines the 2014 Baton Rouge Blues Festival.

Running 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Saturday in North Boulevard Town Square and Repentance Park, the festival features 16 performances on three stages; artists interviews in the Old State Capitol; additional performances in the Old State Capitol lobby; and a screening of the documentary film “Rainin’ in My Heart.”

The festival’s Kids Zone offers performances, storytelling and a petting zoo.

Its 2014 poster, which honors the late Tabby Thomas, will be available for $30. Other festival souvenirs include T-shirts and guitar picks.

Following the festival, the Manship Theatre’s Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre will present the Tabby’s Blues Box jam session featuring Chris Thomas King and friends.
