Ragin’ Cajuns’ Jamal Robinson on Biletnikoff watch list

Louisiana-Lafayette receiver Jamal Robinson, of Slidell, and Louisiana-Monroe receiver Rashon Ceaser, of Clinton, were named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., announced Tuesday.

The award, which will be revealed Dec. 11 on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN, annually recognizes the most outstanding receiver in college football. Brandin Cooks, the New Orleans Saints’ first-round draft pick in May, won the award last season while playing for Oregon State.

The watch list contains 55 players and will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists on Nov. 17 and three finalists on Nov. 24.

A 6-foot-4 senior, Robinson set career highs in 2013 with 54 receptions for 862 yards and eight touchdowns. The former Salmen High standout finished fifth in the Sun Belt Conference in receiving yards per game (66.3) and was seventh overall in receptions per game (4.1).

Robinson recorded three 100-yard receiving games last season, including 124 yards on a career-best eight receptions in a 35-30 win at Akron. He added 100-yard games in wins over Texas State (114 yards) and at Arkansas State (104 yards) to increase his career total to six.

The selection of Robinson marks the fifth Ragin’ Cajuns player to be named to a preseason watch list, joining Lombardi Award Watch List members Daniel Quave, Mykhael Quave, Justin Hamilton and Dominique Tovell.

As a sophomore in 2013, Ceaser was named second team All-SBC after he led the Warhawks in both receptions (65) and receiving yards (964) while finishing tied for the team lead in touchdown catches (five). Earlier in July, Ceaser was named to the Paul Hornung Award Preseason Watch List.
