The list was selected in conjunction with the release of ESPN’s new Total Quarterback Rating (QBR). The top 30 returning quarterbacks according to the QBR make up the watch list. The winner will still be selected by a voting panel, which includes national media and each of the Mannings, after the bowls. ULM senior Kolton Browning is also on the watch list. Earlier this summer, Broadway was also named to the watch list for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. “Being included on this award list means a lot to me because growing up in Louisiana. I have always admired the Manning family and have tried to play like them,” said Broadway, a junior from Baton Rouge. “With practice starting next week, it is important that my teammates and I stay focused on the goals ahead. I have said it before, it doesn’t matter where you start, it is where you finish.” As a sophomore, Broadway earned honorable mention All-Sun Belt honors after setting school records for total offense (3,611 yards) and completion percentage (65.4). He ranked third in the Sun Belt in passing efficiency (153.3), fourth in total offense (277.8), seventh in passing average (218.6) and eighth in rushing (59.2). Total QBR measures a quarterback’s contributions to scoring on each play (passing, rushing, sacks, fumbles, and penalties) accounting for game context (down, distance, yard line, time remaining, and score) and adjusted for opponent strength. It is based on a 0-100 scale and 50 is average. Additional quarterbacks may be added to the watch list after the start of the season. Ten finalists will be released Nov. 27. The winner will be announced Jan. 8.
