LAFAYETTE — Louisiana-Lafayette center Andre Huval was named to the Rimington Trophy fall watch list Tuesday.
Huval is one of 17 players who appeared on last year’s fall watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which is given annually to the top center in the country by the National College Football Awards Association.
Huval, a 6-foot-1, 285-pound senior from Scott, was a second-team All-Sun Belt selection last year after playing all but 12 of the offensive snaps. He led an offensive line that allowed just 13 sacks during the year.
A graduate of St. Thomas More High, Huval helped the Cajuns set a school record with 5,914 yards of offense.
The Rimington Trophy is named after former Nebraska All-American Dave Rimington, who is the only player in college football history to receive the Outland Trophy twice, doing so in both 1981 and 1982. It has been handed out every season since 2000.
