Southwest Tennessee nips BRCC

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Catcher Luke Deaton hit a two-run single in the ninth inning to lift Southwest Tennessee to a 7-6 win over the Baton Rouge Community College baseball team Sunday afternoon at the SPC Kickoff Tournament.

Brandon Shemwell scored two runs for the Saluqis (1-3). Justin Atkinson (1-0) was the winning pitcher.

Nick Ber led BRCC (1-3) at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run. Matt Willis was 2-for-2 with a run scored, and Bo Parker was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Cody Boyd (0-1) took the loss.
