Advocate news services Jan. 26, 2013 Comments HAMMOND — Nicholls State guard KK Babin, a former St. Michael’s star, hit two deep 3-pointers down the stretch to key a game-closing 10-4 run to lift Nicholls State to a 71-65 win over Southeastern Louisiana in women’s college basketball at the University Center. Southeastern (7-8, 0-4 Southland) had erased an 11-point deficit to tie the game before the Colonels’ run. Alisha Allen led the Colonels (11-4, 3-1) with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Babin had 14 points and nine assists. LiAnn McCarthy added 15 points, and Jasmine Scott scored 13. SLU’s Elizabeth Styles had 14 assists, and Brandi Simmons scored 15 points. Houston Baptist 60, UNO 45: In New Orleans, Shanice Steenholdt scored 23 points and Houston Baptist took advantage of a poor shooting performance by the University of New Orleans.
