Jerry Lovelocke ran for one touchdown and passed for two more as Prairie View A&M (4-2, 3-1 SWAC) pulled away steadily, recovering a Grambling fumble on the Tigers’ first possession and kicking a 22-yard field goal barely two minutes into the game. Lovelocke threw 12 yards to Courtney Brown in the first quarter to give the Panthers a 10-0 lead, then threw 23 yards to Deandre Cooper ran for a score in the third to push the lead to 24-3 heading into the fourth quarter. Jamespaul Bryant returned a Grambling fumble 64 yards for a touchdown. A 33-yard, second-quarter field goal by Johnathan Wallace was the lone score for Grambling (0-6, 0-3 SWAC). JACKSON STATE 42, ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 33: In Jackson, Miss., Tommy Gooden rushed for 214 yards and four touchdowns to rally Jackson State over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Gooden’s 30-yard touchdown with a minute remaining sealed the win for Jackson State. The Tigers (4-2, 4-0) held Arkansas-Pine Bluff scoreless in the fourth quarter. Jackson State trailed 23-21 at halftime, but Gooden took over in the second half, scoring from 43, 3 and 30 yards. Moore hit Tobias Singleton for a 37-yard touchdown after giving up 13 points to the Golden Lions. Moore connected for a TD again on a Zach Pendleton reception with 19 seconds left in the second quarter, giving the Tigers the lead. With no time left in the half, the Golden Lions (0-5, 0-3) hit a 51-yard field goal to re-take the lead. MISSISSIPPI VALLEY 28, ALABAMA A&M 9: In Normal, Ala., Mississippi Valley State capitalized on mistakes by Alabama A&M to pick up a win. The Mississippi Valley State (1-4, 1-2) defense forced six turnovers, including four Brandon Wells interceptions, one of which was returned 52 yards by Avery Boykin for a touchdown. ALABAMA STATE 34, TEXAS SOUTHERN 2: In Houston, Daniel Duhart completed 19 of 29 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns as Alabama State dominated Texas Southern. Alabama State (4-2, 4-1 SWAC) rolled up 464 yards of total offense and has now rushed for at least 200 yards in every game this season. ALCORN STATE 57, WARNER 0: In Lorman, Miss., Arnold Walker rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns to lead Alcorn State to a lopsided win. Walker got plenty of help as the Braves (4-2, 2-1) racked up 589 total yards of offense while holding Warner (0-4) to just 19 yards passing and 46 yards rushing.
