BY REED DeSALVO| Special to The Advocate Oct. 12, 2013 Comments Saturday’s game between Southern and Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, Miss., has been moved to 4 p.m. because of heat concerns. Saturday’s game was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. In Mississippi Valley’s last home game Sept. 7 against Delta State, 14 fans reportedly received treatment as a result of the extreme heat. Valley enters the contest 0-3 after falling to Alcorn State last week 35-28 in their conference opener. Southern is 1-2 and 1-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play after an epic 62-59 come-from-behind victory in its home opener against Prairie View. The Delta Devils defeated Southern last year 6-0 in front of a national audience on ESPNU in Stump Mitchell’s final game as Southern coach.
