Advocate news services July 15, 2013 Comments An exhibition doubleheader between the Southern and LSU-Eunice baseball teams Saturday has been canceled because of unplayable conditions at Southern’s Lee-Hines Field, Southern coach Roger Cador said. The teams were scheduled to play two seven-inning games at 1 p.m., but heavy rain Saturday morning soaked the field. The team’s game Friday night was also washed out. “It’s over with,” Cador said. “It’s too wet. The field is really drenched.” Cador said the Jaguars (20-21) will resume practice Monday morning in preparation for next week’s Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament in Fort Worth, Texas. LSU-Eunice (45-8) plays Thursday in the NJCAA Division II tournament at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Miss. The Bengals are ranked No. 1 in Division II and are the defending national champions.
