Va. -- The Saints have completed their fourth-to-last practice before returning to New Orleans to face the Tennessee Titans in their second of four 2014 preseason exhibitions on Friday. Highlights: -- The Saints' big rushing game in the preseason-opening win at St. Louis on Friday carried over into Sunday's practice at The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia. RB Mark Ingram (eight carries, 83 yards and a touchdown Friday) and Khiry Robinson (five carries for 23 yards and a TD) had long gains running up the interior of the offensive line in a rushing drill. That then set up QB Luke McCown for a play-action pass TE Jimmy Graham hauled in for a gain of about 10 yards. --McCown was filling in for the injured Drew Brees (oblique). While the first-string line got back LG Ben Grubbs (returned after being out since July 27), it was without RG Jahri Evans (unspecified). --CB Patrick Robinson left early for no disclosed reason. Coach Sean Payton declined to comment on it after. --New Saints FB Greg Jones worked with the 1s as a lead blocker in the drill. Jones was signed last week, after FB Erik Lorig sustained a leg injury at the Aug. 2 intrasquad scrimmage. The other FB on the roster is Austin Johnson, a 2013 practice squad member. --Rookie CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste was serving as gunner in a punt return drill where rookie WR Brandin Cooks was fielding the ball. Jean-Baptiste was beaten for a touchdown at St. Louis in which he didn't turn for the ball, a low point in a camp in which he has had his ups and downs. He will want to contribute to as many special-teams units as possible while he develops in defensive coverage, where he lined up opposite No. 1 CB Keenan Lewis a couple of times in a drill Sunday. --NT John Jenkins took part in individual and 1-on-1 drills for the first time since opening training camp on the physically unable to perform list with a pec issue. He did well enough, winning two of his three encounters. The wins came with Tim Lelito at center. The loss came with Jonathan Goodwin at center. In team drills... -- McCown hit Graham with a jump pass TD that resembled the ones Tim Tebow would throw during his career at Florida. --Undrafted rookie S Pierre Warren intercepted a pass in team drills. He's had a brilliant camp and almost picked off a pass at St. Louis. --In a drill simulating a drive starting at the 20 with :38 seconds left on the clock, neither McCown nor Ryan Griffin, competing to be the No. 2 QB, had much success. McCown threw three straight incompletions that hit defenders' hands before eating a sack fumble from LB Parys Haralson. --Griffin, for his part, completed two passes to move further down the field, threw two away under pressure and then tossed an interception to CB Corey White for what could've been an easy pick-six. White laid down after the pick, though. --Griffin later redeemed himself, however. From about midfield on the last snap of practice, he fired a Hail Mary into the end zone and the waiting arms of TE Ben Watson, who hauled the ball in for the score just past the goal-line. Fans rewarded the play with oohs, aahs and loud cheers, and then the team hit its cool-down runs. --After missing Friday's game, Saints RB Pierre Thomas (undisclosed) did conditioning work off to the side at one point with WR Kenny Stills, out since July 25 with a tweaked quad. WR Joseph Morgan took off pads before the end of practice and was tossing a ball in the air to himself toward the end. CB Patrick Robinson left practice early for an undisclosed reason.
