Brees kept out of Saints' practice again, but Toon, Morgan and Brooks return

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va.-- The Drew Brees watch continues.

The Saints quarterback sat out or his fourth-consecutive practice after suffering a left oblique injury last week.

Brees worked off to the side.

Cornerbacks Champ Bailey and Terrence Frederick, wide receivers Kenny Stills and Andy Tanner, fullback Erik Lorig, offensive linemen Ben Grubbs and Jahri Evans, tight end Je'Ron Hamm, defensive lineman John Jenkins and linebacker Victor Butler did not practice.

Wide receivers Nick Toon and Joe Morgan and cornerback Derrius Brooks returned to practice. Toon suffered a bruised shoulder Tuesday.

Observations

-- Jenkins appears to be ramping up his rehab work. He went into a three-point stance Wednesday and did sprints.

-- Terron Armstead has been giving Cameron Jordan and Junior Galette everything they can handle in camp.

-- After losing in a run-blocking drill, Akiem Hicks demanded that he be given a second chance. He performed better the second time.

-- The running backs spent some time working on blitz pickups.

-- There was once again an emphasis on punt returns.

-- Jonathan Goodwin has been tough to beat in one-on-one rush drills.

-- Ryan Griffin worked with the first-team offense.

-- Khiry Robinson continues to look good. He had one run where he ran into traffic, but managed to slip out to pick up an extra five yards.

-- Kenan Lewis had a nice pass breakup on a pass intended for Nick Toon.

-- Brandin Cooks dropped a pass.

-- Patrick Robinson intercepted a pass intended for Marques Colston.

-- Glenn Foster was yanked from 11-on-11 drills for jumping offsides.

-- Running back Timothy Flanders stood out several times.

-- Keenan Lewis and Charles Hawkins got into a fight. Lewis fled the scene and Rafael Bush took over.

-- Shayne Graham connected from 39, 43, 51 and 53 yards. Derek Dimke missed from 53 yards.

-- Bush picked off a Griffin pass.
