Saints minicamp participation report: Andy Tanner is back to work Saints minicamp participation report: Andy Tanner is back to work by ramon antonio vargas| firstname.lastname@example.org June 23, 2014 Comments Saints wide receiver Andy Tanner stretched and participated in on-field work on the second day of the team’s minicamp Wednesday after sitting out Tuesday. Outside of Tanner's return, all of the Saints players who missed work Tuesday did the same Wednesday. No reason was given about why Tanner, a fan favorite who has spent most of his time with the Saints on their practice squad, was sidelined Tuesday. Meanwhile, as expected, both All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham and rookie receiver/first-round draft choice Brandin Cooks were absent Wednesday. Cooks is finishing up his junior year at Oregon State. Graham is not yet under contract, because he has not signed either a new long-term deal to replace the expired one he got as a rookie in 2010 or a franchise tag New Orleans gave him this offseason. Others who were present at Wednesday’s minicamp session but did not participate in drills were nose tackle John Jenkins (reportedly recovering from a surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle), safety Jairus Byrd (recovering from a surgery to repair a problematic disk in his back), wide receiver Joseph Morgan (recovering from a knee injury that kept him out all of 2013), defensive end Moses McCray (undisclosed) and outside linebacker Cheta Ozougwu (undisclosed). Jenkins, Byrd and Morgan aren’t expected to return before minicamp. There have been no updates on McCray or Ozougwu. Aside from Tanner, all seven aforementioned players had missed previous voluntary offseason practices that were open to the media.
