Saints sign fourth-round pick Khairi Fort

While New Orleans lost its bid to host the 2018 Super Bowl on Tuesday, the Saints’ front office went to work as usual, signing its last draft pick as well as a tryout player.

Khairi Fortt, a rookie linebacker out of California chosen in the fourth round, had agreed to a deal with the Saints on Monday but didn’t sign it until a day later, the team said.

Meanwhile, the Saints said they signed defensive end/outside linebacker Kasim Edebali after a tryout at a rookie minicamp last weekend. Edebali, an undrafted rookie born in Germany, broke out as a senior at Boston College with 15 takedowns behind the line of scrimmage, 9.5 sacks, five pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

On another note, after signing him to an honorary free-agent contract with the Saints on Saturday, the Saints placed former Tulane defensive back Devon Walker — who was paralyzed following a serious spinal injury in 2012 — on the reserve/retired list.
