Falcons add safety Dwight Lowery, cornerback Josh Wilson.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Falcons added two potential starters to their secondary by signing safety Dwight Lowery and cornerback Josh Wilson.

Lowery has 41 career starts with the Jets and Jaguars. He started three games with Jacksonville in 2013 before suffering a concussion on the first play at Seattle on Sept. 22. He later was placed on injured reserve and released.

Lowery, a fourth-round pick by the Jets in 2008, has 10 career interceptions.

Wilson, a second-round pick by Seattle in 2006, started in 81 of his 102 career games with the Seahawks, Baltimore and Washington. He started all 16 games with the Redskins last season and set a career high with 93 tackles. He has 14 career interceptions, including one last season. Terms of Tuesday’s deals were not released.

Redskins’ Moore suspended

NEW YORK — Defensive lineman Brandon Moore of the Washington Redskins was suspended for the first four games of next season by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Moore has yet to play a down in the NFL. He was with the practice squads of San Diego and Denver last season. He later signed with the Chiefs, was cut and picked up by the Redskins.

AP: Panthers, Cole agree

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people familiar with the situation said free agent defensive tackle Colin Cole will remain with the Carolina Panthers after agreeing to a one-year contract.

Cole, 33, started 13 games last season for Carolina’s second-ranked defense and had 15 tackles and one sack. He’s not the type to fill up a stat sheet, with his primary responsibility being to take up blockers at the point of attack, allowing linebackers freedom to run and make plays.

The 6-foot-2, 335-pound Cole has spent eight seasons in the NFL and started 47 games. Prior to joining the Panthers he spent time with Minnesota, Detroit, Green Bay and Seattle.

Bills sign DL Wynn

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills signed free agent defensive lineman Jarius Wynn, who split last season between San Diego and Dallas.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, Wynn broke into the NFL in 2009 when the Georgia product was drafted in the sixth round by the Green Bay Packers.

He spent three seasons in Green Bay and then played the 2012 season with the Tennessee Titans. The Cowboys signed Wynn last October after he was released by the Chargers.

Overall, Wynn has 8 1/2 sacks in 58 career games.

Mostly used as a defensive end, Wynn has the bulk to play tackle. He is expected to provide depth for a defense that’s making the switch to a 4-3 system under new coordinator Jim Schwartz.
