Three and out

1 WHAT WE LEARNED

For the first time in four seasons, these Saints win games in a variety of ways. If they aren’t overpowering people with their passing game, they’re doing it with defense, which is a refreshing change from 2012, when they couldn’t do anything on that side of the ball. Special teams have come up big as well.

2 TRENDING NOW

The Saints are one of only three unbeaten teams remaining after just five weeks of the season. One year after starting the season with four losses in a row, they’re 5-0 for only the fourth time in the franchise’s 47-year history. The biggest thing is they’re playing with confidence and with a swagger they just didn’t play with in 2012.

3 FINAL THOUGHTS

It didn’t look like it in the end because they won by only eight, but the Saints had this game well in hand for the first 50 minutes. After winning their last two games by 45 points, they held a Bears team that scored 103 points in its last three outings to 260 yards and 10 points in the first three quarters.
