Fullback Jed Collins missed again by ramon antonio vargas| firstname.lastname@example.org Aug. 25, 2013 Comments New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston and right guard Jahri Evans practiced Thursday during the 30-minute period open to the media after missing the previous day’s session, but fullback Jed Collins sat out for a second consecutive session. Linebacker Will Herring also returned Thursday after being out of practice since Tuesday, while linebacker Chris Chamberlain missed practice. Coach Sean Payton said the Saints excused Chamberlain the past few days to permit him to tend to an undisclosed family matter and should be back Monday. As is usual, Payton did not elaborate on Collins’ situation or on why Colston, Evans and Herring had been out. Colston had previously dealt with a foot injury that limited his participation in training camp, and it could be the Saints were just being cautious with the receiver. Linebackers Junior Galette and Jonathan Vilma also did not take part in the practice period the media could observe Thursday. Vilma and Galette have been dealing with knee injuries. Of course, wide receiver Joe Morgan, who is on the active roster but tore his meniscus and partially tore an anterior cruciate ligament at the intrasquad scrimmage, was not at practice either.
