What we learned
For a second straight week, the Saints self-destructed on the road with four turnovers after having five on Nov. 29 at Atlanta. This time, they added poor coverage on kickoff returns to their list of transgressions — a recipe for disaster in the NFL.
Trending now
The Saints went 0-3 in their toughest stretch of the season as they played three consecutive games against division leaders. They lost them by 10, 10 and 25 points — which isn’t good when you’re desperately trying to stay in the playoff chase.
Final thoughts
Mathematically speaking, the Saints are still in the NFC playoff race with three games remaining. But for all intents and purposes, it’s over, as one more win by the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks or another setback by the Saints will definitely do it.
