Drew Brees, Marques Colston head list of 15 inactives for Saints against Titans

Saints quarterback Drew Brees and veteran wide receiver Marques Colston headlined a list of 15 players who were not in pads prior to their team’s home preseason exhibition against the Tennessee Titans on Friday.

Brees has been nursing an oblique injury since the beginning of the month, but nothing about Colston’s status was disclosed as kickoff approached.

Others not in pads were CB Patrick Robinson (undisclosed), CB Champ Bailey (undisclosed), CB Rod Sweeting (undisclosed), FB Erik Lorig (leg), LB David Hawthorne (undisclosed), LG Ben Grubbs (back), RG Jahri Evans (undisclosed), T Ty Nsekhe (undisclosed), LB Victor Butler (undisclosed), NT John Jenkins (chest), WR Kenny Stills (quad), TE Je’Ron Hamm (stinger) and S Jairus Byrd (back).

Brees, Byrd, Grubbs, Evans, Stills, Lorig, Butler, Nsekhe, Jenkins, and Hamm all missed a 26-24 victory in an Aug. 8 exhibition at St. Louis. Veteran running back Pierre Thomas is in pads after missing the St. Louis game, and so are cornerback Terrence Frederick and wide receiver Andy Tanner.

The Saints (1-0) kickoff against the Titans (1-0) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome at 7 p.m. The Titans defeated Green Bay at home Aug. 9.
