LSU figures to have a reliable kicker for the next two years in James Hairston, and the Tigers appear to have found his successor.
On Saturday afternoon, according to several reports, LSU landed another commitment for the Class of 2014 in kicker Cameron Gamble of Flower Mound (Texas) High School.
Kohl’s Professional Camps, a service that specializes in kickers, punters and snappers, ranks Gamble the No. 9 kicker in the nation, saying the ball “explodes off his foot” and that he “gets great height” on his field goals.
Kicking specialist Chris Sailer, who tweeted Saturday that Gamble had committed to LSU, called the kicker one of the best in the country. Gamble gives the Tigers their 13th commitment for the Class of 2014.
LSU heads into the season with a new No. 1 kicker in Hairston, a junior who handled kickoff duties last year. Drew Alleman kicked field goals and extra points.
