The fax machine at the LSU football office still hasn’t cooled off from receiving letters of intent on National Signing Day last Wednesday, but the Tigers staff is hard at work laying the foundation for the highly anticipated Class of 2014.

To that end, LSU is expected to welcome more than 80 prospects to campus Saturday for one of its junior day sessions, among them some of the top talent for 2014 from Louisiana and several neighboring states.

Leading the way is St. Augustine running back Leonard Fournette (6-foot-1, 232 pounds). The state’s No. 1 prospect for 2014, he is ranked No. 2 nationally on 24/7 Sports’ Top 247 for 2014 and No. 3 on the Rivals 250.

Other top in-state prospects expected to be in attendance are West Monroe offensive tackle Cameron Robinson (6-6, 325); University High offensive guard Garrett Brumfield (6-3, 270); Monroe Neville defensive back Laurence Jones (6-2, 208); Plaquemine defensive end Davon Godchaux (6-4, 243); and defensive end Gerald Willis (6-3, 260) and wide receiver Devante “Speedy” Noil (5-10, 170) from Karr.

LSU has four commitments for 2014: Brother Martin offensive guard Will Clapp (6-4, 270), Westlake tight end Jacory Washington (6-5, 211), athlete Devin Voorhies (6-1, 185) of Woodville (Miss.) Wilkinson County and Houston Alief Taylor cornerback Chris Hardeman (5-9, 180).

Washington, Voorhies and Hardeman are expected to attend the junior day. Also expected in is Beaumont (Texas) Ozen cornerback Tony Brown (6-1, 180).

Brown, ranked No. 13 nationally by Rivals and No. 15 by 24/7 Sports, is considered an early lean to LSU.

His sister, Beloved, is expected to sign with the LSU women’s track and field program.

LSU’s early recruiting efforts have the Tigers ranked No. 6 nationally for 2014 by 24/7 Sports.

LSU is just a training station for the NFL. Fans pay for the expense of the players getting ready for the NFL. Really don't think it's right to come and play a couple of years and then leave. How does Alabama with all the National titles keep more players than LSU each year.

For those who complained about not getting anybody from Texas (a down year in the state by the way), I expect LSU should sign at least 3 of the best players in Texas. As far as "keeping the ones we have", not sure what that means. When you get some of the best, good luck on keeping them 4 or 5 years anymore. Say hello to Ozzie and Harriet for me.

That sounds good, but what about now. It really doesn't matter what we may be getting it's how we going to keep the ones we have, and try to win with them.
