That’s sure what the just-announced LHSAA-on-the-Geaux program announced Friday sounds like. LHSAA Executive Director Kenny Henderson and two new staffers, Louisiana High School Coaches Association Director Gary Duhe and LHSAA assistant executive director Ronda Richardson, are set to travel around the state to meet with coaches, administrators and the media. An LHSAA news release said the trio will discuss the 2013-14 sports year, answer questions and listen to possible concerns. Information on the 2014 LHSAA convention set for January and contact information for the LHSAA staff will be provided. The meetings begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 27 at Bossier City’s Parkway High. South Louisiana sessions include: 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Teurlings Catholic, 9 a.m. Sept. 5 at the LHSAA office, 1:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at Mandeville High, 9 a.m. Sept. 19 at Bonnabel High and 1:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at South Terrebonne. Boxers to be honored A total of 32 competitors and coaches will be honored when the Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of Fame hosts its first induction ceremony at 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Sunset Event Center. Cost is $15 per person. Boxing was a high school sport from 1931 to 1958. Two Plaquemine High coaches, Sam Distefano Jr. and Albert DuPont will be among those honored. Distefano won five state titles, while DuPont won four. Former Plaquemine High boxers Shelby DuPont and Tommy Gascon are among the four-time state champions set to be inducted, along with Istrouma’s Frank Scimeca. Two three-time champions from Plaquemine, Edwin Ourso and Gerald Boudreaux, also will be honored. Another PHS competitor, two-time state champion, Heston Daniels, also is part of the induction class.
