The screenings will run from 4-7 p.m. Jump Start Your Heart Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 2008 after the death of Shannon Veal, who collapsed during a high school playoff basketball game at Glen Oaks High and died of an undetected heart ailment. Dr. Steven Kelley, a Baton Rouge area cardiologist, is a co-founder of this program and organization. Also participating in Thursday’s screenings will be another Healthy BR partner, the Blue Bus from Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, as well as the City-Parish Emergency Medical Services.
