St. Thomas More’s Ryan Meijer and Episcopal School of Acadiana’s Jarrien Cutrer scored goals to lift the West to a 2-1 victory over the East in the Louisiana Soccer Coaches Association All-Star boys soccer game.
The contest, played at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, was called in the 56th minute Saturday night because of weather conditions.
Brother Martin’s Nathaniel Peters scored the lone goal for the East. Jesuit’s Jordan Rice, of the East, and the West’s Cutrer, were selected as the MVPs for the contest, which was also sponsored by the Louisiana High School Coaches Association.
Meijer opened the scoring in the 10th minute off a pass from Vandebilt Catholic’s Andrew Teuton. Four minutes later, Cutrer took a pass from St. Louis Catholic’s Alex Kjellsten and scored to make it a 2-0 game.
Rice’s pass to Peters gave the East its goal in the 21st minute. The West held a 4-2 advantage on shots on goal, while the East had eight corner kicks, compared to three for the West.
