Devin King, Mikiah Brisco headed to world track trials Devin King, Mikiah Brisco headed to world track trials Advocate staff report July 11, 2013 Comments Two Louisiana high school standouts, Jewel Sumner’s Devin King and Baton Rouge High’s Mikiah Brisco, made the USA Track & Field Junior National Team set to compete July 10-14 at Donetsk, Ukraine. King won the boys pole vault with an effort of 16 feet, 23/4 inches at the World Youth Track & Field Trials that were completed Wednesday. Brisco qualified by placing second in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 13.76 seconds. She also finished fourth in the 100 meters. A total of 43 athletes from across the nation earned spots on the squad. Brisco and King will be seniors this fall. King was the Division II indoor and Class 3A outdoor champion in the pole vault for Sumner in 2013. Brisco led BRHS to a Division I runner-up finish indoors and a Class 5A title outdoors. She won the 100 hurdles, 100 meters and 200 meters at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s 5A outdoor meet.
