Eighty-four golfers, including 22 from Louisiana, are set to compete in the American Junior Golf Association’s Arrowhead Junior at The Bluffs tournament that begins Tuesday.
Tee times begin at 7 a.m. at The Bluffs, located in St. Francisville. The three-day tournament continues through Thursday.
“This is the first time we’ve hosted an AJGA Arrowhead tournament, and it’s a big deal for us,” said Jeff Russell, the director of operations for The Bluffs. “This of the first year of what will be a three-year arrangement.
“We’ve got a number of out-of-state players and some good players from Louisiana who are entered.”
Peter Thorseth, of Richmond, Texas, is among the out-of-state boys to note.
The list of Louisiana competitors to watch includes Carter Toms, the son of PGA Tour standout David Toms, along with Ponchatoula’s Blake Caldwell and St. Francisville’s Davis Field.
The girls field includes Kathleen Gallagher, the daughter of former PGA player Jimmy Gallagher Jr. Louisiana competitors to note include Baton Rouge’s Sydney Cavin and St. Francisville’s Haley Harrington.
