Robin Fambrough | Advocate sportswriter Sept. 17, 2013 Comments Plaquemine High School defensive lineman Davon Godchaux said he received a scholarship offer from Alabama on Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound senior-to-be got the offer while he was in Tuscaloosa, Ala. “It was during (their summer) camp,” Godchaux said. “In fact, it was right in the middle of it. I was excited.” It was the 26th scholarship offer Godchaux has received. Florida, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Mississippi State are among the other Southeastern Conference schools to extend offers to Godchaux thus far. He is scheduled to attend a camp at LSU in July. Godchaux later sent out photos of himself with Alabama coach Nick Saban from his phone. As a junior Godchaux, earned All-Metro and Class 4A All-State honors after compiling 60 tackles (16 for losses) and 9.5 sacks. U-HIGH WINS 7-ON-7 CAMP: University High School defeated Karr to win the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s 7-on-7 camp held Saturday in Lafayette. The Class 3A Cubs defeated 4A Teurlings Catholic in one semifinal. Karr, last year’s 4A state champion, defeated 1A West St. John in the other semifinal.
