His team finished 7-4, losing to North DeSoto in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. Ferguson is the sixth 2014 commitment for Louisiana Tech. His other finalists included Central Florida, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette and Southern Miss. Last week, he participated in a Louisiana Tech camp at Louisiana Leadership Institute, which led to the family visit to the Ruston school. Ferguson said he has a 3.3 grade point average and already has met the NCAA’s academic qualifying standards, though he plans to take the ACT again. He is considering a major in an agriculture-related field.
