Frank Bartley signs with BYU Frank Bartley signs with BYU Robin Fambrough | Advocate sportswriter May 28, 2013 Comments Former Christian Life Academy standout Frank Bartley has signed to play basketball at Brigham Young University. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Bartley helped lead CLA to the Class 1A state title in 2011-2012. He spent the 2012-13 school year at a prep school, Future College Prep, located in Carson, Calif. “The coach from BYU was recruiting one of my teammates, and he ended up recruiting me,” Bartley said. “I had some other schools interested and some other offers. But I went (to BYU) for a visit and really liked it.” Bartley averaged 19.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists for Future College Prep and is expected to play point guard and shooting guard at BYU. Bartley said he seriously considered offers from Auburn and Fordham. Because he attended a prep school and not a junior college, Bartley has four years of college eligibility. He said the decision to attend a prep school was the right choice. “(Going to FCP) was the best thing for me,” Bartley said. “I got another year for my body and my game to mature. It helped me get ready to play at the highest level.” Bartley plans to major in sports managment. Bartley earned All-Metro honors in basketball and football at Christian Life. He made the All-Metro basketball team in 2011 and 2012 and was an All-Metro pick in football as a wide receiver in 2011. As a senior, Bartley averaged 14.2 points and 6.7 rebounds and was the District 7-1A co-MVP. He also made the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 1A All-State team.
