Seven Baton Rouge area players sign scholarships Seven Baton Rouge area players sign scholarships Advocate staff report April 27, 2013 Comments A total of seven baseball players from two Baton Rouge schools have signed scholarships with colleges this week. Catholic High had four players sign, while three University High had three signees. In addition, Broadmoor girls basketball player Shantrell Lumar is scheduled to sign Wednesday. Two Catholic players, pitcher Paul Roppolo and outfielder Andrew Fournet, signed with Loyola-New Orleans. The other Bears signees, pitcher Ben Braymer and catcher Jordan Romero, signed with LSU-Eunice. The three University signees took part in a Tuesday signing ceremony at the school were outfielder Gino Marucci (Houston), infielder Josh Jefferson (Prairie View) and outfielder Daniel Lockwood (St. Edward’s-Austin, Texas). Another UHS player, first baseman-outfielder Steven Sensley, signed with LSU-Eunice in the fall. Lumar is set to sign with Dilliard-New Orleans during an 11 a.m. ceremony in the school’s library.
