The 15-team Scotlandville Hornet Invitational set to begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday helps highlight the weekend of high school track and field action.
“We’ve got 12 schools that have boys and girls teams entered,” Scotlandville coach Greg Thompson said. “There are two others, one with a boys team and other with a girls team. There should be some good competition.”
The Episcopal Four-Way meet set for Friday and Saturday’s Catholic High Meet at Catholic are also part of the weekend schedule.
Field events begin at 3:30 p.m. with running events to follow at 5 p.m. at Scotlandville. Boys/girls teams entered include Baton Rouge High, Belaire, Capitol, Central, Donaldsonville, East Feliciana, Glen Oaks, Istrouma, Lake Area New Tech, Scotlandville, Tara and Zachary. McKinley will bring its girls team, while Redemptorist is scheduled to have its boys team compete.
Competition at the Episcopal Four-Way starts at 4 p.m. with field events. Running events begin at 5:30 p.m.
Teams entered include the host Knights, Mount Carmel Academy, Dutchtown and St. Michael on the girls side. Episcopal, Dutchtown and St. Michael are the boys teams entered.
Saturday’s Catholic High Meet begins at 1 p.m. with field events. Running events are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. A total of six schools will compete.
Boys teams entered include: host Catholic, Christian Life, Denham Springs, Glen Oaks, Southern Lab and University High. St. Joseph’s Academy, CLA, Denham Springs, Southern Lab, Glen Oaks and University.
