Baton Rouge area baseball players sign with state schools

Three Baton Rouge area baseball players signed with state colleges during the past week and one underclassman, Zachary High sophomore Micah McHugh, committed to Ole Miss.

McHugh started every game at shortstop as a freshman last season and hit .320 for the Broncos, said Zachary coach Jesse Cassard.

Three pitchers, Central
Private's Chase Martin and the Zachary duo of Trent Crowder and Evan Tidwell, signed with state colleges. All three are right-handers.

Martin signed with the University of New Orleans after pitching and playing the infield for the Rebels of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools.

Crowder signed with the University of Louisiana at Monroe and was 9-0 for ZHS last spring. Tidwell, a Northwestern State signee, had a 6-1 record as a junior.
