Christophe paces Brusly victory

THIBODAUX — Quarterback Jay Christophe tallied 298 yards of total offense and had a hand in five touchdowns as Brusly High notched a 43-7 road victory over E.D. White Catholic in a District 7-3A opener played Friday night.
Christophe ran for 155 yards on 20 carries and scored on runs of 13 and 1 yards. He threw TD passes of 50 yards to Patrick Crawford, 12 yards to Donald Williams and 9 yards to Terrance West.
The eighth-ranked Panthers (5-1, 1-0) had more than 400 yards and limited EDW (4-2, 0-1) to 138 yards.
Crawford had five catches for 96 yards.
ST. CHARLES CATHOLIC 50, DONALDSONVILLE 6: In Donaldsonville, sixth-ranked St. Charles scored 43 first-half points, including 29 in the first quarter of the District 7-3A game.
Austin Weber ran for 104 yards on 11 carries and scored two TDs for the Comets (3-2, 1-0). Erron Lewis added 73 yards on 9 carries and also scored two TDs.
DHS’ Leondre James completed 21 of 34 passes for 210 yards and one TD. Stephen Sullivan caught 12 passes for 139 yards and one TD.
SOUTHERN LAB 50, ARCHBISHOP HANNAN 20: At SU’s Mumford Stadium, eighth-ranked Southern Lab won its fifth straight game. Deonte Shorts completed 13 of 25 passes for 280 yards to pace the Kittens (5-1, 1-0) to their District 7-1A win.
Shorts tossed TD passes of 10 yards to Marquise Ricard and 44 yards to Juan Smith. Short also had a 26-yard scoring run. Titus Nelson scored on runs of 6 and 80 yards for SLHS. Hannan is 4-1, 0-1.
PORT ALLEN 28, ST. JAMES 6: In Port Allen, Jestin Kelly and Darian Claiborne teamed to lead PAHS (4-1, 1-0) to victory in District 7-3A.
Kelly ran for 135 yards on 22 carries and scored two TDs. Claiborne completed 9 of 18 passes for 196 yards and one TD. Claiborne ran for 87 yards on 17 carries and returned an interception to the SJHS 1.
Morris Miller and Earl Bridgewater had eight tackles each. PAHS held St. James (0-5, 0-1) to 67 yards of total offense.
CAPITOL 18, DUNHAM 7: Jamar Robertson ran for 100 yards on 23 carries and Darius Stampley scored two touchdowns to lead Capitol (2-4, 1-0) to a win in District 7-2A.
Stampley scored on a 6-yard run and caught a 34-yard scoring pass from Joe McWilliams. Capitol’s other TD came on a 48-yard pass from Anthony Thomas to McWilliams. Thomas completed 6 of 12 passes for 145 yards for the Lions, who gave interim coach Claude Coleman his first victory.
Dunham (3-3, 0-1) got its only score came on a 65-yard kickoff return by Drake Davis.
CATHOLIC-PC 27, ST. EDMUND 21: In New Roads, Andrew Jarreau caught three passes for 92 yards and two TDs as CHSPC christened its new Community Park Stadium by notching a key District 6-1A win.
Jarreau had TD receptions of 72 and 20 yards from Jonas Guichet to pace the Hornets (4-2, 2-1). Guichet completed 10 of 21 passes for 139 yards.
Aaron Fabre (1-yard run) and Josh Schofield (85-yard kick return) also scored for CHSPC. St. Edmund falls to 3-3, 1-2.
NORTHEAST 27, REDEMPTORIST 20: In Pride, host Northeast (2-3, 1-0) rode a rushing attack led by Darryl Adams, Dominick Yates and David Chatman to a District 7-2A victory.
Adams rushed 12 times for 158 yards, including a 1-yard TD run. Yates added 126 yards on 22 carries and scored on a 1-yard run. Chatman scored on runs of 6 and 24 yards.
SILLMAN INSTITUTE 33, COPIAH EDUCATION FOUNDATION 24: In Clinton, quarterback Cobb Kelly accounted for 360 yards to pace Silliman (5-3) in Mississippi Association of Independent Schools action.
Kelly ran for 114 yards on 24 carries and scored one TD. He completed 11 of 25 passes for 246 yards and three TDs.
Thomas Myles finished with five catches for 151 yards and two TDs for the Wildcats in the nondistrict game, including TD receptions of 63 and 49 yards. Caleb Jackson caught a 50-yard TD pass from Kelly.
