Guillot throws no-hitter in Parkview win; Brusly loses

SULPHUR — Parkview Baptist’s Brooklyn Guillot pitched a no-hitter and struck out 12 as the Eagles took a 10-0 Class 3A semifinal victory at the Louisiana High Athletic Association’s State Softball Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The area’s other 3A team, Brusly, lost to Buckeye 4-0 in 10 innings.
Meanwhile, Catholic-Pointe Coupee and Maurepas rallied in the final innings to claim semifinal wins in late morning semifinals.
Sydney Welsh scored the game-winning run in the top of the sixth inning as 13th-seeded Catholic-PC ousted No. 1 Opelousas Catholic 3-2 in Class 1A action at Frasch Park. Abbey Devillier pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the Hornets.
Third-seeded Maurepas scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge No. 2 Calvin, 4-3. The Wolves took advantage of two wild pitches to score runs and also got a run with a bases-loaded walk.
The Baton Rouge area’s two remaining 5A teams saw their seasons end in the semifinals. St. Amant lost to defending champion Hahnville 10-0 in one semifinal; St. Joseph’s Academy lost 2-0 to Sam Houston in nine innings in the other.
