ZACHARY — Brek Balentine shot a 72 and Jake Phelps fired a 74 to lead Parkview Baptist to a win in the Division III, Region 2 golf tournament at Beaver Creek Golf Course.

Parkview fired a 311 to win the team competition and advance to the state tournament, which begins Wednesday at Beaver Creek.

Also qualifying as a team for the state tournament were second-place West Feliciana (331) and Church Point (397).

Nine golfers qualified for the state as medalists. They are Balentine, Phelps, West Feliciana’s Davis Field (79), Franklin’s Brandon Burdett (80), Rayne’s Cory Johnson (80), Parkview Baptist’s Daniel Schroeder (82), Parkview Baptist’s Austin Cope (83), West Feliciana’s Dalton Morrison (84), West Feliciana’s Turner McClendon (84) and West Feliciana’s Blake Kennedy (84).

Baseball

RUNNELS 7, MAMOU 0: Keandre McClain went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and pitched a shutout to lead the eighth-seeded Raiders to a Class 2A playoff victory.

McClain (4-4) led a 10-hit attack for Runnels (17-3). Josh Morris (2-for-3, RBI), Rigs March (2-for-3) and Alden Cartwright (2-for-4).

Runnels scored two runs in the first and tacked on three in the second for a 5-0 lead. The Raiders then added single runs in the third and fourth.

Mamou, a No. 25 seed, had two hits and committed two errors.

BRUSLY 4, CROWLEY 3: In Brusly, the Panthers scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie and squeeze out the Class 3A playoff victory.

Brusly (20-12) was led by Blake Manola, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Holden Tassin (2-3, RBI) and Landon Andre (2-4) were other leaders for the 14th-seeded Panthers.

Brody Deshotel led 19th-seeded Crowley by going 3-for-3 at the plate.
