Southern Lab, CLA, WCHS claim victories

Second-seeded Southern Lab had three players score in double figures as the Kittens more than doubled the total of their opponent in a Class 1A boys basketball bidistrict playoff game.

Lance Bernard led the way with a game-high 20 points for SLHS in a 90-41 victory over No. 32 Ringgold on Tuesday night at Southern’s F.G. Clark Center.

Marquise Ricard (16) and Trent Flowers (10) were the other leaders for Southern Lab (23-10), the Class 1A runner-up a year ago. SLHS hosts Northwood-Lena in Friday’s regional round.

Deondre Williams finished with 11 points for Ringgold.

CHRISTIAN LIFE 83, RIDGEWOOD 37: The third-seeded Crusaders got a game-high 20 points from Jonathan Stove and Stephen Couvillion added 11 in a 1A game played at CLA.

Christian Life (22-6) raced out to a 26-8 first-quarter lead. Jonathan Frey led No. 30 Ridgewood (14-13) with 16 points. CLA, the District 7-1A co-champion with Southern Lab, advances to host No. 14 Grambling, a 55-49 winner over Opelousas Catholic.

WHITE CASTLE 64, ST. MARTIN’S 46: In White Castle, the fourth-seeded Bulldogs used a 17-3 second-quarter surge to take control of their 1A game.

Jerrain Jenkins finished with 18 points and Randy Foster added 17 for WCHS (23-7), last year’s Class 1A state champion. Terrance Fair added 12 for the Bulldogs.

St. Martin’s, the 29th seed, finished 8-19.

POINTE COUPEE CENTRAL 65, DELHI CHARTER 42: In LaBarre, the sixth-seeded Cougars used a 26-12 third-quarter run to boost their lead in another 1A game.

Dee-jay Braggs finished with 16 points, while Drea Cobb and Bob Hurst each had 11 for PCC (23-7).

The Cougars host No. 11 Houma Christian on Friday.

Buford Bean led Delhi Charter (13-16), the No. 27 seed, with 10 points.

PORT ALLEN 79, SARAH REED 44: In Port Allen, the fourth-seeded Pelican got a game-high 24 points from Nick Parker in their 3A bidistrict game.

Quincy Paul added 16 for PAHS (22-8), the District 7-3A runner-up.

Parker made three 3-pointers for the Pelicans, who advance to host 7-3A rival Donaldsonville, a 59-41 winner over Marksville, in Friday’s regional round.

GLEN OAKS 68, NORTHWEST 47: The sixth-seeded Panthers got 19 points apiece from Jalen Variste and Chris Thomas in their 3A contest played at GOHS.

Saiid Allen contributed 11 for Glen Oaks (22-9), the District 6-3A runner-up. The Panthers host No. 11 Farmerville, a 58-49 winner over another District 6-3A team, West Feliciana, on Tuesday.

Kenneth Hicks led No. 27 Northwest (13-16) with 13 points. Marcus Simon added 10 for the Raiders.

PARKVIEW BAPTIST 53, LORANGER 38: The ninth-seeded Eagles, who won the District 6-3A title, jumped out to a 14-4 first-quarter advantage and outscored the Wolves in all four periods of their 3A contest.

James Thompson scored 21 points for Parkview (19-12) in the game played at PBS. Tim Cooke added 10.

The Eagles travel to play No. 8 Brusly, a Monday winner over De La Salle, in Friday’s regional round.

DONALDSONVILLE 59, MARKSVILLE 41: In Donaldsonville, the 13th-seeded Tigers built on their lead in every quarter of a Class 3A game.

Devon Breaux had 14 points to lead a trio of double digit scorers for DHS. Quentin Riley (11) and Cortez Mitchell (10) were other leaders for the Tigers (18-10), who travel to play No. 4 Port Allen on Friday.

Gabriel Alexander led No. 20 Marksville (18-11) with 14 points, while Ledarius Reed added 13.

FARMERVILLE 59, WEST FELICIANA 49: In Farmerville, the No. 11 Farmers (19-11) were led by Dontario McNeal with 14 points in their 3A contest.

Erwin Walker led No. 22 West Feliciana (16-11) with 16 points, while Evan Whitaker added 10.

DUNHAM 65, UNIVERSITY 56: In Class 2A, No. 10 Dunham got 21 points from Jonathan Honore, while Zach Padgett had 19 and Dylon Maggio finished with 10 in what was a District 7-2A rematch.

The Tigers (26-7) face No. 27 Evangel Christian-Shreveport in the regional round. Evangel took an 80-73 triple-overtime win over No. 7 Sterlington on Tuesday.

Henry Shortess (14), Skylar Mays (12), Wayde Sims (10) and DJ White (10) all scored in double figures for U-High.

REDEMPTORIST 72, OAKDALE 61: In Oakdale, No. 18 Redemptorist pulled a mild upset. Gervaughn McGhee scored a game-high 27 points and Taylor Armstrong had 14 for RHS (18-11) in a Class 2A contest.

Kris Allmon added 10 for the Wolves, who advance to host second-seeded Riverside Academy in Friday’s regional round.

FAMILY CHRISTIAN 86, FIRST BAPTIST CHRISTIAN 39: In Class C, the Flames built a 38-17 halftime lead.

Quentin Jones, Trey Ray and Mervin Landry each had 13 points to pace FCA’s balanced attack.

The seventh-seeded Flames (25-10) host No. 10 Ebarb, a 70-45 winner over Johnson Bayou.

JEHOVAH-JIREH 59, BISHOP MCMANUS 46: Also in Class C, Damon Robinson scored 21 points to pace No. 16 JJCA. Aaron Griffin had 17 and Joshua Clark contributed 13 for the Warriors in the game played at Tara High. Jehovah-Jireh travels to play top-seeded Atlanta in Friday’s regional round

RAPIDES 78, HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 51: In Lecompte, 12th-seeded Rapides used an 18-4 second-quarter surge to claim the lead in a big way in a Class B game.

Ashton Washington scored a game-high 22 points and Jamey Mitchell added 21 for the Mustangs, who travel to play Fairview in Friday’s regional round.

Gerald Johnson tallied 21 points and Monterreo Whitfield had 11 for Hosanna (16-19), a No. 21 seed.
