Elmer’s Island was closed to the public Sunday and will remain closed through Tuesday after a late Friday announcement from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The LDWF indicated that the area would reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
No reason was given for the closure of this state-owned and maintained wildlife refuge, a 230-acre beachfront directly across from Caminada Pass at Grand Isle.
