Terrence Magee to wear LSU's tradition-based No. 18 jersey

Terrence Magee will trade No. 14 for 18.

LSU awarded its senior running back with the honor of wearing the No. 18 jersey, the school announced in a tweet Sunday night.

Jersey No. 18 was an LSU tradition born in 2003 when quarterback Matt Mauck guided the Tigers to their first national championship since 1958. His number became synonymous with success “as well as a selfless attitude,” the school’s media guide says.

Each season a Tiger player is voted to wear No. 18. Magee joins this list of players: Richard Dickson (2008, 09), Richard Murphy (2010), Brandon Taylor (2011), Bennie Logan (2012) and linebacker Lamin Barrow last season.

Magee, a Franklinton native, is LSU’s top returning running back from last season. A mild-mannered and soft-spoken guy, Magee is expected to carry to bulk of the running back duty this season along with star freshman Leonard Fournette and Kenny Hilliard.

Magee was presented the No. 18 jersey during the team’s first meeting of fall camp on Sunday night. Camp begins Monday morning.
