The preseason poll was released Thursday with seven Southeastern Conference teams ranked: No. 2 Alabama, No. 5 Auburn, No. 9 South Carolina, No. 12 Georgia, No. 13 LSU, No. 19 Ole Miss and No. 20 Texas A&M. Florida State tops the poll at No. 1, receiving 56 of the 26 first-place votes. The Tigers begin one spot up from their final ranking of 2013 (No. 14). Five of their 12 regular season opponents are ranked in the poll, including Wisconsin at No. 14. The Badgers and Tigers meet in Houston in the season opener on Aug. 30. LSU players report Sunday. Fall camp begins Monday. The Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools. The Coaches Poll, which previously was a part of the Bowl Championship Series formula, is not involved in the new College Football Playoff. LSU coach Les Miles is a voter in the coaches poll. The Associated Press preseason top 25, in which media members vote, is scheduled to be released Aug. 17. LSU finished 14th in the final AP poll of 2013. Louisiana-Lafayette received 12 votes in the coaches poll, the 15th most among those receiving votes. Tigers release camp schedule LSU will practice the first six days of fall camp, will scrimmage Aug. 16 and Aug. 19 and will start in full squad practices in full pads on Friday. Those are some highlights from the fall camp schedule the school released Thursday. Players report Sunday, and camp begins Monday. Here’s the full camp schedule. Both of LSU’s scrimmages are closed to the media and public. Media members are allowed to watch the first portion of most practices (individual drills) and must leave when team drills begin. The Tigers will conduct split squad practices Monday-Thursday. Veterans will practice in the morning while freshmen and selected veterans go in the afternoon. Fan day is set for Aug. 10. LSU will conduct three two-a-days practices: Aug. 9, Aug. 12 and Aug. 15. CST to air Miles show Cox Sports Television will air, in delayed format, Miles’ weekly one-hour radio show on the network at 8 p.m. The Les Miles Show is broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network beginning at 7 p.m. from TJ Ribs Restaurant on Acadian Thruway.
