LSU DE Frank Herron arrested for bike theft

LSU defensive end Frank Herron was arrested Monday for misdemeanor theft and admitted to authorities that he stole a bicycle, said LSU Police Department spokesperson Cory Lalonde.

LSU police received a call Wednesday about a bicycle stolen from the bike rack near the Huey P. Long Field House between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

On Monday, the victim called police saying he saw someone riding what he thought was his bike near the Cox Communications Academic Center.

Officers responded and talked to the person riding the bike, Lalonde said. Through their investigating, they identified Herron as a suspect.

Herron was not the one riding the bike. Lalonde would not say who was riding the bike.

Questioned by police, Herron admitted to stealing the bike and was given a misdemeanor summons. A misdemeanor summons is given for items stolen below a $500 value.

Herron is a former five-star recruit from Memphis who redshirted last season.

“Coach (Les) Miles is aware and has met with him. He will be disciplined internally,” team spokesman Michael Bonnette said. “Frank was very sorry and knew he made a mistake.”
