The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday they terminated the contract of veteran wide receiver Devery Henderson, a former Saints and LSU standout.
Henderson was drafted by the Saints in the second round of the 2004 draft (50th overall). He played 124 games in New Orleans, compiling 245 receptions for 4,377 receiving yards and 20 receiving touchdowns. Last season, Henderson appeared in 15 games with nine starts, catching 22 passes for 316 yards with one touchdown.
For his career, he caught 77 passes for 1,310 yards (17.0 avg.) and 19 touchdowns in addition to adding 433 rushing yards on 83 carries with three TDs.
Henderson has been absent from camp since Aug. 5, and coach Mike Shanahan told the media Henderson has been dealing with a death in his immediate family.
