Audio from LSU coach Les Miles postgame press conference Audio from LSU coach Les Miles postgame press conference Advocate story July 02, 2013 Comments LSU football coach Les Miles was happy with just about everything in his postgame press conference after the White team defeated the Purple team 37-0 in the Tigers' annual spring game. Miles was especially pleased with the offensive players on LSU's White team, which were the starters. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger completed 12 of 19 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Back-up quarterback Stephen Rivers completed 7 of 10 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had six catches for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Jarvis Landry had six catches for 132 yards. "The guys that needed to catch the ball did, and the guys that needed to throw the ball did," Miles said. All of the quarterbacks in the game were allowed to call their own plays, which was the idea of new LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. "It's an exercise that allows you to see what the quarterback is thinking," Miles said. "I thought it was tremendous." Miles said Mettenberger being allowed to call his own plays on Saturday was not indicative that he will be allowed to call his own plays in the fall. Miles also was pleased with the play of freshman center Ethan Pocic, who played at Lemont (Ill.) Township High School last fall before enrolling at LSU this spring. Pocic was playing in place of injured starter Elliott Porter, "I have no problem playing Pocic in games of significance," Miles said.
