It marks the first career weekly award for Bell. Bell had hits and collected RBIs in all four of LSU’s games last week en route to a .429 batting average, two home runs and 10 RBIs. Bell had her first career grand slam at No. 25 South Alabama and a career-high four RBIs. Bell’s 10 RBIs accounted for half of LSU’s total for the week. “We’re extremely pleased for Bianka, and this is a well-deserved honor for her,” coach Beth Torina said. “She’s a special player and one of the most talented freshmen in the SEC. We’re going to need her to continue to produce at a high level as we face a challenging month of April.” LSU embarks on a nine-game road swing as the Tigers visit Florida State, a team who is receiving votes in the latest edition of the Top 25 polls, for a Wednesday doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. CDT. Men’s tennis TEAM RETURNS HOME TO FACE TULANE AND UNO: The No. 33 LSU men’s tennis team (9-8) returns home for a doubleheader on Tuesday against Tulane and the University of New Orleans. The Tigers are coming off a weekend split in Southeastern Conference play with a 4-2 win over Florida and a 4-1 loss to South Carolina on Sunday. “Tulane is having a very good year,” coach Jeff Brown said. “They’re No. 55 in the rankings and just a few short weeks ago, we were in that same position. They’re a very talented team so we’ll look to be ready to face anyone.” The Tigers have another match on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Nicholls State.
