Michigan’s Evan King and Alex Buzzi, and Barrett Franks and Shaun Bernstein earned wins, while the match between LSU’s Tam Trinh and Stefan Szacinski and Michigan’s Alex Petrone and Michael Zhu was left unfinished with LSU leading 5-4. Chris Simpson and Stefan Szacinski earned the only singles wins for LSU (6-7). Petrone, Franks, Zhu and Buzzi won in singles for Michigan (6-6). “In singles, our straight-set losses made it too easy,” Brown said. The highlight of the match for the Tigers was Simpson’s upset over No. 15 King 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4). “Evan King is a great barometer,” Brown said. “If you’re beating him, then that means you’re ready to step into that level. It’s very significant for Chris Simpson’s future and the team in establishing himself as one of the top players in the nation.” LSU hosts No. 4 Ole Miss at 3 p.m. Friday.
