Robert Nkemdiche, the consensus No. 1 recruit out of Logansville (Ga.) Grayson, tweeted late Thursday night that he will take what will likely be his last official visit to LSU this weekend. “LSU tommrow (sic) what up!” Nkemdiche said on his Twitter account. Just last week, Nkemdiche told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he wasn’t sure if he would have time to fit in a visit to LSU before Wednesday’s start of the national signing period. While getting Nkemdiche (6-foot-5, 265 pounds) on campus represents a major coup for LSU, the Tigers are still believed to be facing an uphill climb to wrest his commitment away from Ole Miss. Nkemdiche’s older brother, Denzel, plays linebacker for the Rebels, and their mother has expressed her desire that they play together. Still, Nkemdiche is expected to make the visit to LSU with his father, always a plus for a school in the recruiting process. LSU is likely to promise Nkemdiche a chance to play immediately as a true freshman. The Tigers suffered heavy losses at defensive end last month with the early departures of juniors Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo to the NFL draft, along with the loss of senior LaVar Edwards. Nkemdiche is set to announce his college choice at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday morning on ESPNU. LSU has 27 commitments and one signee for 2013, though ESPN has reported Jewel Sumner safety Jeremy Cutrer may not sign with LSU but enroll at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College instead because of an issue with his ACT score.
