HOW DID METTENBERGER DO IN HIS FIRST START?

LSU starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger had an up and down first half. The good was that he completed 10 of 16 passes for 97 yards. The bad was that he threw an interception. He also held the ball too long and was rocked on a hit by North Texas cornerback Hilbert Jackson and missed a couple of series.

NO HONEY BADGER,
NO PROBLEM

LSU sophomore Odell Beckham Jr. has replaced the dismissed Tyrann Mathieu at punt returner this season, and he had a strong first half. Beckham returned four punts for 75 yards in the first half. He returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown. He had a 76-yard punt return for a touchdown called back when Jarvis Landry was penalized for an illegal block in the back.

    EW LOOK TIGER STADIUM

The improvements to the stadium were a hit. The front entrance was a major meeting place for fans to gather and relax before the game. The new lighting and painted exterior made the north end zone look better. The new name tag on the front of the stadium was a perfect fit.

“One of the interesting aspects of traveling around following an FBS team is that you never know who you are going to run into. I was waiting for my plane today with a whole lot of LSU fans and former LSU men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson (seriously, he was the last person to jump on) when I ran into a UNT professor.”
