LSU’s Randle to Giants, Taylor to Chargers

It was a long, long wait, but LSU wide receiver Rueben Randle was finally drafted at the end of the second round Friday by the New York Giants.

Randle was projected to go late first or early second, but he gets a big consolation prize by getting to play for the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Tiger safety Brandon Taylor went 10 picks later, 73rd overall, in the third round to the San Diego Chargers.

Randle and Taylor make it four Tigers drafted so far. Cornerback Morris Claiborne went Thursday with the sixth pick of the first round to the Dallas Cowboys, while defensive tackle Michael Brockers went with the 14th overall pick to the St. Louis Rams.

Despite going lower than many projections, Randle is LSU’s highest-drafted receiver since Dwayne Bowe and Craig “Buster” Davis went in the first round in 2007.

The Tigers have had at least one wide receiver selected in six of seven drafts since 2006 and eight overall.

Taylor is the first LSU safety drafted since Chad Jones went in the third round (76th overall) to the Giants. He’s the eighth Tiger defensive back drafted since 2007.

The third round will wrap up Friday’s portion of the draft. Rounds 4-7 will be held starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Time to PROVE what I said all season. LSU had great talent but unlike some football ignorants here who acted like Les Miles had "all that talent and shouldn't have won the NC", let's look at the NFL draft after 3 rounds shall we: Alabama 5 picks... Stanford, Illinois, LSU 4 picks....Boise State, Wisconsin, Cal, Clemson, and Oklahoma 3 picks. The bottom line is despite the rhetoric from the anti-LSU or anti-Les Miles crowd, the best judge of talent on college football teams (at least the upper classmen) is the NFL draft. Oh, but wait, I forgot about the great QB Jarrett Lee. He went in the 1st round right? LOL! This draft is just MORE proof why Les Miles deserved National Coach of the Year. BTW, I will also point out that several WR went before Randle. All the delusionals had Randle going 1st round. I had him going 3rd round and I was one pick off....he was the very last selection of the 2nd round.
