TD Club to honor Miles
NEW ORLEANS — LSU coach Les Miles is among five men who will be honored for their contributions to the sport of football by The Touchdown Club of New Orleans next month.
Miles, who led the Tigers to a 13-1 record this past season and a spot in the BCS National Championship Game, will receive the Collegiate Award from the TD Club during its annual banquet March 12 at the Windsor Court Hotel in downtown New Orleans.
Also to be honored are former Kansas City Chiefs president and general manager Carl Peterson, Riverside Academy coach Mickey Roussel, longtime New Orleans sportswriter Ron Brocato and the Rev. Msgr. Clinton Doskey.
Peterson, who also worked for the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL, is this year’s recipient of the 22nd annual Pete Rozelle Award, which is given each year to the person who has made outstanding contributions to professional football and the NFL.
Roussel will be honored with the Prep Award for his 22 years of coaching at Riverside Academy, Brocato will receive the Bob Roesler Media Award for his work as a high school writer and author, and Doskey will be recognized for his service as chaplain of the TD Club.
