Weekly wrapup: Benoit and Dornier take LGA senior four-ball title Weekly wrapup: Benoit and Dornier take LGA senior four-ball title Advocate staff report Oct. 12, 2013 Comments The team of Darell Benoit of Belle Chasse and Bart Dornier of Metairie fired a 9-under-par 63 to win the LGA senior four-ball championship Sunday at Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville. Benoit and Dornier started the day at 3-under, two shots back of leaders Ben Thibeaux and Robert Shelton of Lafayette. Benoit and Dornier, who are members at TPC Louisiana, finished at 12-under 132 to top Thibeaux and Shelton by four strokes. Benoit and Dornier’s final round included one bogey and 10 birdies — six by Dornier and four from Benoit. The LGA also conducted a super seniors championship for participants 65 and older. Playing from a forward set of tees, Russ Gaudin of Baton Rouge and Les O’Neal of Denham Springs fired a 70-65 (-9) to win the event. David Harris of Covington and Eddie Fielding of Abita Springs (71-69, -4) were second, followed by Tommy Mook and Lewis Jones of Shreveport (71-75, +2). TEAM RED WINS FIREQUEST CUP: Team Red outscored Team Purple 33-25 to win the Firequest Cup matches at Dumas Golf Club on Sunday. The event followed a Ryder Cup-style format. In team scramble matches, Team Purple’s Glinda David and Jason Anderson won 5 points, defeating Team Red’s Amy Furman and Danny Simoneaux, who earned 0. Team Purple’s Bret St. Germain and Ben Fleig (3½ points) defeated Team Red’s Charlotte Pugh and David Kennedy (½ point), while Team Red’s Jason Miller and Eric Tonsul (5) topped Team Purple’s Joey Suhayda and Ronny Bonnecaze (0). Finally, Team Red’s Wes Favaloro and Darrell David (5) defeated Team Purple’s Mark Montgomery and David Nix (0). In individual matches, Team Purple’s Suhayda defeated Team Red’s Tonsul, and Team Purple’s Glinda David defeated Team Red’s Charlotte Pugh. Team Purple’s Mark Montgomery topped Team Red’s David Kennedy, and Team Red’s Danny Simoneaux defeated Team Purple’s Jason Anderson. Team Red’s Darrell David defeated Team Purple’s Fleig, and Team Red’s Favaloro defeated Team Purple’s Bonnecaze.
