Zach Capello and Janet Daigle were the overall male and female winners in the CSW Hump Day Race No. 3 two-mile races Wednesday.
Capello posted a winning time of 10 minutes, 07 seconds, while Daigle won in 13:28.
Winners in the other categories for the two mile were: Tre Hendry (male masters, 11:09), Jennier Ledoux (female masters, 15:58), Kenny Schexnayder (male grandmasters, 12:40) and Emily Gagliano (female grandmasters, 19:25).
The overall winners in the half mile were Joseph Epps (3:06) and Anne Marie Ledoux (3:24).
WINNING TEAMS SHOOT 31 AND 32: Three duos posted the low net scores Tuesday and Wednesday in action at BREC’s weekly league at Santa Maria.
Jason Anderson and and Chris Lewis combined for a 32 to claim first in Tuesday’s action. Meanwhile, the teams of Chris Latour and Chad Blanchard and Jordan Roussel and Andrew Whall shot 31s to tie for first inWednesday’s action. Latour and Blanchard also won Wednesday’s low gross division, while Anderson and Lewis won the low gross division with a 34.
Tying for second place in Tuesday’s low net division with 33s were Brad Mcfearin and Eddie Mcfearin and Mike Arbour and Byron Miller. These two teams als tied for second in low gross with 35s.
In Wednesday’s action Chad Braud and Mike Waguespack combined to take third in low net and tie for second in low gross with 33s. Roussel and Whall were the other half of the tie in the low gross division with a 33.
THOMASSEE CLAIMS HONORS AT USSSA JUNIOR TOURNAMENT: In Lake Charles, Jamison Thomassee of Opelousas won the 15-18-year-old division of the Southern Regional Tournament, a stop on the Mizuno/USSSA Junior Golf Tour, last weekend.
Thomassee shot a 146 to edge runner-up Austin Campbell of Lake Charles (147). Brandon Soileau of Groves, Texas, finished third at 150.
In the boys 12-14-year-old age group, Alexandria’s Charlie Flynn shot a 158 to edge Lake Charles’ Nathan Grossi by one stroke. Crowley’s Ryan Fulton took third with a 173.
Alexandria’s Chance Queen won the boys 9-11-year-old division by carding a 79. Arnuadville’s Roberto Espinosa and Alexandria’s Karan Patel shot 82s to finish as the runners-up.
In the girls 15-18-year-old division, Karlei Hemler of Groves, Texas, shot a 148 to cruise to that title. Cassidy Goff (180) and Camille Savoie (191) took second and third.
Baton Rouge’s Riely Heaslip ruled in the girls 12-14-year-old division with a 172. Lake Charles’ Annie Thomas was the runner-up with an 181.
Lake Charles’ McKinsey Joe won the girls 9-11-year-old division with a 122.
PURVIS WINS AT SANTA MARIA: Gracie Purvis claimed the championship at the Santa Maria Ladie Golf Association Handicap Tournament on July 9 and 11.
Pat Morgan and Peggy Berniard took first and second in the first flight. Cindi DiMarco and Debbie Staring finished first and second in the second flight.
Berniard won the Longest Drive Award and the Closest to the Pin Award in the first flight. Sandy Hill claimed both of those honors in the second flight.
The Overall Low Putts winner was Pat Morgan.
